This is a free online workshop for working or retired staff of Ontario school boards who are members of OMERS, the $121 billion pension fund for 544,000 working and retired municipal employees.
This workshop will:
Inform school board staff about the urgency of the climate crisis;
Explain why the investment decisions of the $121 billion OMERS fund matter for the climate crisis;
Describe how your retirement savings are exposed to the financial risks of climate change;
Provide a summary of the progress OMERS is making in managing these risks, and an overview of its risky investments in fossil fuels and other high-carbon projects and companies;
Provide information on how to engage with your pension fund on climate.
