Simon Archer

Steering Committee member

Simon Archer advises trade unions, retiree associations and boards of trustees across Canada, advising on negotiating pension and benefits, trust administration and fiduciary issues, public interest litigation, insolvencies, corporate accountability and governance.


How-Sen Chong

Steering Committee member; Climate Campaigner, Toronto Environmental Alliance

How-Sen was born and raised in Etobicoke and has been a climate and climate justice campaigner for nearly 25 years.

Over the years, he's worked with many different environmental organizations, including Sierra Youth Coalition, Sierra Club Canada, Greenpeace, Environmental Defence Canada, Indigenous Climate Action, and the United Nations Development Fund. Between 2016 and 2019, he was the Canadian Digital Campaigner at Stand.earth, where he worked under Indigenous leadership to oppose the Trans Mountain Pipeline.

How-Sen holds environmental studies degrees from McGill and Yale and is certified in organizational greenhouse gas accounting. He lives in downtown Toronto.


Julia Langer

Chair of the Steering Committee; CEO, The Atmospheric Fund

Julia has held senior leadership positions in the environmental sector for nearly 30 years, managing environmental campaigns and organizations, defining strategy and policy, and inspiring public and private action. Julia leads TAF staff in advancing the organization’s solutions to climate and air pollution, and with support from TAF’s Investment Committee, oversees the fiscal integrity of TAF’s endowment.

Toby Heaps

Steering Committee member; CEO, Corporate Knights

Toby is the CEO and co-founder of Corporate Knights Inc. and publisher of Corporate Knights Magazine. He spearheaded the first global ranking of the world’s 100 most sustainable corporations in 2005, and in 2007 coined the term “clean capitalism.”


Adam Rochwerg

Adam brings years of experience working at international institutions and practicing law with a focus on climate impacts and mitigation. As the Head of Climate Solutions at Manifest Climate, Adam combines this depth of climate expertise with strategy to focus on developing Manifest’s leading climate intelligence software.

Adam holds an Honours Bachelor of Arts from Dalhousie University, a Master of Arts from the University of Western Ontario, a Master of Science from the London School of Economics, and a Juris Doctor from the University of Ottawa, Faculty of Law. He also clerked for the judges of the Ontario Superior Court of Justice. Adam is currently a member of the IUCN’s World Commission on Environmental Law and a Global Fellow with the Centre for International Sustainable Development Law. He also serves on the executive board of the Environmental Law Section at the Ontario Bar Association.


Shilpa Tiwari

Steering Committee member

Shilpa has an undergraduate degree in Environmental Science, a Master’s degree in Business and Sustainability  and a PhD in Social Anthropology. While born in Toronto, Shilpa has lived and worked in Europe, Asia, Latin America and Africa.

She is currently Head, Global Sustainability and Corporate Citizenship at Manulife, prior to this role the was Vice President of Corporate Social Responsibly at OMERS and President of the OMERS Foundation. She has also has extensive experience in mining, oil and gas, and infrastructure.
